Careful you don't tear your stitches around the band. If you do with the weight of SIDS your band can slip or flip!

My doc said it was fine. I was on a 14 day pre op diet and he said 4 days post op I could eat grilled chicken and green Beans. Maybe tomorriw I'll eat mushy food just to be safe.

Four days out, no way I could have eaten solids, was still too swollen and had no appetite for food till a good few weeks. I wasn't allowed to start solids till my third week and going by others on the forum that was much earlier than their instructions but I was still extremely careful and didn't really have solids till closer to four weeks.

We all have to bear in mind everyone is different, all I read on here pre my surgery was how the pain was hardly anything at all and that it took weeks to feel hungry for me the pain was incredibly intense and by day 8 post op I was talking to my clinics dietitian about moving to pureed foods and based on what I read here I felt guilty and like something must be wrong with my band that I was handling pureed foods so well so early, as long as u get the advice from ur dr or dietitian don't take into account other people's experiences as it only makes u feel as though u are doing something wrong and the fact is we all recover differently

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
