Christopher47 4 Posted January 26, 2013 Hello. My name is Christopher. I'm a long time food addict. I had the lap band surgery two years ago and I joined Overeaters Anonymous, a 12 step program like Alocholics Anonymous. I lost 180 pounds, but I've started gaining it back. I discovered that my eating habits and addiction to sugar/flour is still with me. I have a lot to change and learn about my food. My nurtienist recommended this site to keep track of my weight loss. I still need to lose about 20 pounds. I stll go to Overeaters Anonymous meetings in my area. It helps. OA made me realize that I'm addicted to sugar and flour. I am a food addict. 4 LadyMaggie, Terry Poperszky, kmaas21605 and 1 other reacted to this
Shanna H 30 Posted January 26, 2013 Congratulations on a couple of things. First the amazing weight loss! 180lbs is an amazing accomplishment. Second, congrats on recognizing that you are addicted to sugar and flour. This are big accomplishments. Welcome to the lapband talk site. Everyone is very helpful. You will be given lots and lots of information and a lot of opinions. I want to recommend MyFitnessPal.com. It helps tracks your food and exercise and what is great about it is you can add friends to support you. I can't remember my name (I think it is shaniko1970) on the site but feel free to add me or if you sign up (it is free) send me your id and I will add you. DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted January 26, 2013 Congratulations on your weight loss and welcome to the site! I think the majority of us are food addicts. I mean, you don't get obese to the point of needing bariatric surgery without some sort of major food issue. I have a lot of respect for you for realizing this and going to OA. I'm definitely a food addict, without a doubt. Granted what works for one definitely doesn't work for all, but I have found getting white carbs out of my diet really has helped my sugar/carb cravings tremendously. I stay away from white rice, white bread, regular Pasta, or anything that says "enriched" or "bleached" on the label. I buy whole grain bread, whole wheat Pasta, and brown rice, I also stay away from sugar whenever I can and I have found Stevia to be a great non-chemical substitute. You can totally do this, Christopher. Best wishes to you. 1 DidThis4Me reacted to this
Christopher47 4 Posted January 26, 2013 Thanks everybody. I still struggle with the food. I suppose it's a lifelong job. But I feel better than ever, but I'm still stuck with 20 extra pounds. BTW, I had plastic surgery on my stomach and arms to remove the excess skin after the weight loss. I'll try to post pictures later. Thanks again, Christopher

I'm terrified of the recovery process but I can't wait to get rid of all this extra skin. I'd love to get my arms and thighs done eventually too but we'll see if I can find the money for it. 1 donna12 reacted to this
