tjmiller 37 Posted January 25, 2013 I am 9 days out and feel mostly better except where my port is. It had been so difficult to sleep because I am a tosser and turner. If I am not extremely careful when moving I feel a lot of pain where the port is. Did anyone experience this and if so, how long did it last?
Chrissy-Chris 51 Posted January 25, 2013 I am only 2 days out but I am surprised by the amount of pain around my port. If I move incorrectly the pain is incredibly sharp. It bites! I was also wondering how long this would last.

tiggergramma 129 Posted January 25, 2013 I had surgery the end of September and my port area was painful for about the first 4 weeks, to varying degrees, and now is painful after Pilates. The port is sewn into an abdominal muscle and that muscle is going to be painful until it is completely healed, which can take several weeks. For me, it was a good reminder that my stomach probably wasn't completely healed yet either, so I tended to be more careful all around and follow the surgeon's orders better than I might have otherwise. jennygirl37 47 Posted January 25, 2013 I am one week out and the port pain is still pretty intense, but it does seem to get better everyday. I talked to my surgeon and was assured that it is all totally normal.
sheky17g 18 Posted January 25, 2013 2 months out and I can't even remember where the port is without looking at the incision. It gets better :-) 2 Terry Poperszky and tjmiller reacted to this
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted January 25, 2013 Port is the last to heal... Mine was almost 8 weeks, I hope your will be sooner. But it does go away! I promise!

Mxmom740 9 Posted January 26, 2013 I still have port pain & I'm 9 month post-op. I was advised that it has to do with my stomach muscles & how much I'm working them (i.e., working out, tossing & turning at night). Most day it's fine, but some days, it's pretty painful. Prior checks of the port placement have indicated that the port itself is fine; just my body's way of dealing w/ it. I'm presuming I will just have to live w/ it some days! :-) Good luck! I just hope I don't catch a cold because sneezing and coughing are a "pain."
chantelleb816 33 Posted January 28, 2013 My port is on my left Andy whole side is tender. Is that normal? I know I was very swollen
Rojasanoll 920 Posted January 28, 2013 The doctors usually connect the port to a muscle and everytime you bend over it pulls on the muscle. That's why it gives discomfort so long. It will go away.
