Surgery Scheduled for March

Recommended Posts

Well I did well today in the end, this is my day one. I am allowed 5 Protein Shakes, plus 2 cups of raw or steamed veggies. I made it through with 4 shakes and a big bowl of salad, which was yummy! I had 2 tbsp of fat free Italian dressing on it. I'm hungry now but I will just have a cup of milk before bed. I CAN do this for the next 10 days!

The hardest part was feeding my 21 month old who is a very picky eater, he likes to watch me eat something before he does. I pretended!

Awwww, I haven't seen many that have to do preop like me. I have to o a 21 day total liquid diet. No food at all. Just Protein shakes, naked juice, crystal light, chicken broth. I can have sf Jello and Popsicles, and no sugar added fudgesicles. That's pretty much it.

I was supposed to do a 14 pre op diet but I had short notice of the surgery date so I'm just doing 10 days.

I just 're read my notes on what I can have, sugar free Jello and popsicle s are allowed! As well as putting the veggies in a broth to make Soup.< /p>

Hey, I'm on day 4 of my liquid diet too and I feel great! I got a sudden burst of energy from somewhere and have been dancing around the house all day. I had a minor headache day 2, you might wanna have some sf Jello and make sure you are getting 64oz of Water or crystal light.

I'm on day 3, and I feel much less bloated, been peeing a lot. I swear I've lost weight already! I forgot to weigh myself on day one, so I don't know if I did.

Pre op testing on Tuesday.

I'm so excited about this whole thing now. Except the anesthesia part!

How's everyone feeling?

WOW Newbeebee! You are the only one I have encountered who's diet is worse than mine. I can have apple and orange juice, sf Popsicles, no sugar added fudgesicles, sf Jello and all low sodium broth Soups which really help. However, I have to go 21 days because of my BMI instead of 14. So I guess we all have something. It's going to be worth it. Hang in there, we can do this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
