Has anyone cooked with a diet soda? Like in a cake mix.. I know pop is off limits but if you cook it the carbonation would be gone.

Wow! This is amazing to me. I didn't know we could eat cake on this diet.

I've eaten cake with my new lifestyle change do I don't see it as a diet but a new way to make healthy choices the majority of the time with an occasional treat. Doesn't mean you eat the whole cake but a sliver.

I've eaten cake a few times, about two bites and am over 80 pounds down since July 2012.

You learn to eat like a slim person with the odd treat.

Eating cake shouldn't be a problem, as long as we don't over do it, this is not a diet:)

Lemon cake mix, 20 oz bottle of diet 7up... Mix and pour into a 9x13 pan... Bake at 350 for 30 minutes... Cool and cover with fat free Cool Whip... So moist and super good. Regular cake mix = 185 calories per serving... sugar free cake mix = 135 calories per serving.

I am sharing my recipe with you all - I do not have the nutrionial facts for this. I make this twice a year because my family/friends request I make it. I love cooking/baking and it does nothing more than to watch people enjoy my foods. I am sure you can tweak my ingredients, I won't be doing that because as I said I only make it twice a year. Its very light tasting, exceptionally moist, and deeeelish! Perfect for anyone who loveeees Pistachio!

INGREDIENTS:

1 Box of white cake mix

3 eggs

1 package of chopped pistachios

2 boxes (3oz.) of instant pistachio pudding mix

3/4th cup of vegetable oil

1 tub of cool whip (keep the cool whip in fridge while cake is baking)

1 cup of sprite or any lemon-lime soda

DIRECTIONS:

Beat cake mix, oil, soda, eggs, and 1 package of the pistachio pudding mix until smooth. Pour batter into greased/floured 9x13 inch pan and bake at 325 degrees for about 45 minutes or until cake is done.

When the cake is completely cooled, In a separate bowl pour about half package or less of the other instant pudding mix into the cool whip (you want it a light green color not too dark) spread the cool whip over the cake and sprinkle the pistachio nuts over the cool whip. (l like to do crushed and chopped pistachio over the cake). (refridgerate)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
