Everyone is quite different. That's why, when you have a question about what to eat, ask your doc BEFORE you eat it...not after. After it's a bit too late and what's done is done.

I am one week post op. how fast do you all drink your Soup? I know they say sips, but is it because it backs up if you go to fast? And you will feel it or is it because you just shouldn't. I'm trying to take cues from my body but feel its turned on me.... Lol. I have had no issue with drinking I can drink my 10oz Protein Shake in 10 min, with no feeling of anything. How long do u take to drink a shake or your Soups?

Didn't mean to scare the pants off you. Just when in doubt' date=' check with your doctor's office. My doc gave me a very specific list of foods that I could choose from for each week. I followed his orders. If it wasn't on the list, I didn't eat it. Sounds like you didn't get too much guidance, so again, if you are worried, called your doctor's office. I doubt that you popped a stitch or anything like that but just be careful and give yourself time to heal. :-)[/quote']

Could you post your lists or scan and email? The food list sounds wonderful, wish my Dr. Had this!!!!! What a great idea :)

2 weeks post op..... Can cottage cheese do harm? My Dr said Protein shakes and full liquids until I see the dietician again on Friday coming up. Problem is' date=' I am so darn hungry. Please help. I don't wanna have problems.[/quote']

Don't worry, if you're 2 weeks post op then I would bet you've done no damage. Cottage cheese may be a bit lumpy but it's not dry and it's got lots of Protein and goes down easy. I was eating just like you, needed to have something more substantial than liquids and I had no issues. Take a deep breath, you're fine.

The assistant in my surgeon's office told my son that cottage cheese is considered a solid and that he should not be having it until he was past the mushy stage. He has trouble eating it now, though, and that is after 1 1/2 years!

Oh lord y'all have given me ideas! Had fill and have been really tight so I combined Campbell's cream of chicken with herbs and French onion and it was the best thing I've had all week. Even added some crispy French fried onions cause the crunchy stuff goes down well and it was awesome!

Betsy - I'll be happy to scan and e-mail you what I have. If you like you can email me at Jewelsm1127 at yahoo. It most likely won't be until Friday or Monday because I have a GM Meeting to attend at work. Not sure if that's too late for you.

This is the best thread. I can do cream Soups and these are the best ideas. I was lamenting my boring old cream of chicken.< /p>

I don't like cream Soups, so instead, I ordered a quart of Miso Soup every day from the sushi restaurant. It has bean curd in it, which is filling and a little bit of tofu, which is super soft.

This won't help the OP since they are way past this stage now but for anyone new just reading - I just added a couple of tablespoons of whole cream to my broths. I couldn't stand the thought of "creamed" Soups even strained but the cream gave the broths a richness I was craving.

I am on day 11 post op and I have to control myself because I can eat anything!!! I discovered this weekend while at a party, I couldn't resist and had to try.... everything was going down without a problem. My nxt appt isn't until may 13 and I'm afraid to lose control, the very reason why I got the surgery to begin with. The creamy Soups are ok, but reading the label they ate fattening...

Progresso Tomato basil is quite good Pacific brand Soups are good. Mrs Dash non salt flavorings added before heating Soup adds a lot of flavoring.

My very fav soup of all time! Found them at food 4 Less yesterday for .98 cents a can! Bought about 16 of em! They're usually $1.88!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
