Thanks everyone! Things went pretty well. I finally understand the "gas" issues that accompanies the pain! All the things that people said to do helped...i.e., walked, Gas-x, etc. I was also very naseuous yesterday but I have been taking meds for that too.

I slept in a recliner last night. Dosed on and off there and now I am up again to get my walk in.

I am so glad to have finally been banded. I am not hungry, at all. Just the opposite.....I am only able to get down just sips of Water and apple juice. Today I will take a few sips of a Protein shake....this may help my naseau as well.

Thanks for all the well wishes!

I start my pre-op diet later today. Still waiting for surgery to be approved. My surgery date is 2/19. I'm getting anxious about the approval process. However, I was told that the lady that does it almost always gets them approved.

Felicia, I'll pray for your approval. Let me know how it goes. What type of pre-op diet do you have? I had none, but I'm glad I self-imposed one, because I dropped 10 pounds before the surgery. You can do this!

Thanks Susan! I finally was approved. So, everything is good for Tuesday the 19th. Yay!!! My pre-op has been 2 Protein Shakes a day, 4 oz. of Protein from meat, poultry, cheese, etc, and as many non-starchy vegetables as I can handle. Veggies have become my new best friends! :D

I'm so happy for you. I see you've lost some weight. Congrats on that as well. I'm paving the way for you ;) I actually went out to lunch today to one of my favorite spots and had the chef puree his delicious seafood bisque. It was yummy. My first yummy food since the surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
