"open" lapband

I am being banded on Wednesday (4-19)... My doc said that because of the scar on my abdomen it increases the chance that he will have to do an open surgery. (I have a 12 inch scar from having my gallbladdar removed when I was 7 months pregnant)

I know that most are done laproscopic, but can anyone whose had the open procedure done chime in here and tell me how the recovery was???

Did you still get inflated with gas??? Was the incision stapled?

I have a very large scar on my abdomen that is 20 years old and was opened and closed half a dozen times. My doctor also had a concern that he may have to open me because of the scar and scar tissue. He did not have to, so please don't worry!! It is simply a risk that they have to inform you about.
