GmasDolly 10 Posted January 22, 2013 Is it normal to feel hungry after having lapband surgery? I am 1 day post op and feel very hungry. I think I have gotten rid of all the gas, but maybe the rumble is still that? Someone please help. Thank you in advance.
hely88 883 Posted January 22, 2013 Congrats on your surgery! Everyone is different and their experiences are different. I have a feeling you might be having head hungery not really hungry. Unfortuately you have to tough if out and follow your doctor's orders. Try to keep your mind on other things. I chew gum a lot but some doctors dont like it so check with your doctor first. Best of luck and hang in there!
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted January 22, 2013 Yes it is normal to feel hungry. You will be hungry until you reach the green zone. Right now its about controling what you eat.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted January 22, 2013 It's very normal to feel hungry. In fact, it takes most people multiple fills before they have adequate Fluid in their band to control hunger. It's not easy but stick to the post op diet and portions that your doctor gave you- despite the hunger. Best wishes
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted January 22, 2013 I sipped a bit all day, and never felt hungry. Everyone is different. Some hunger pains are gas though, so you might try Gas-x and walking.
CatLady0626 45 Posted January 22, 2013 I think i started feeling hungry day 3 post op. It was more than the gassy pains and bordered on nausea. I just had chicken broth with Protein Powder and a Protein Shake. Those took a while to drink but they helped me.
GmasDolly 10 Posted January 29, 2013 I am 7 days post op and I know that it's not just gas. My tummy rumbles and grumbles at me all day. Tried drinking more but it doesn't help. Seeing the dr today for my first post op visit. Will see what he says about the rumbling.
Summerrain 520 Posted January 29, 2013 The rumbling could be your digestive system preparing to digest whatever you've drunk. It expects food but only gets liquids and because your intestines are empty you feel it and hear it more. A rumbling tummy doesn't always mean hunger. I researched it on the Internet when I was experiencing it and that's was an answer to one of the searches I did.

One of the things that I am having to do is relearn what hunger actually is. 1 Jewelsm1127 reacted to this
hely88 883 Posted January 29, 2013 My tummy talks to me all the time. Usually isnt hunger and haven't figured it out yet. A lot of times it is when I'm starting to eat. I think it is normal.
