Feeling Frustrated

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on January 4th. I was given 1cc at the time of surgery and pretty much feel back to my old self as far as being sore and getting around.

My appetite is back and it's frustrating! I know it takes time to get to the "sweet spot" but it's just frustrating because no matter how much Protein I eat, an hour or two later I'm hungry again. Like I said I know it's early in this process but I'm getting discouraged. Just needed some tips, encouragement or a good kick in the ass!

To get me through those times I tried to keep myself very busy. All my drawers are cleaned out, closets clean, laundry room repainted etc...

I would also fill in the in between meals with sf hot chocolate, Decaf tea and lots and lots of Water.< /p>

Good luck!

Hello i am post op dec 18. You are not alone because my friend and i are going through the same thing. I guess it part of the process because i stay hungry and i follow the rules. I had a small fill during surgery but i feel like i do not have a band but it is there. Hang in there it will get better. I go for a fill jan 30 and i cannot wait to see my dr to let him know. We have come to far to turn back now. I eat what i am suppose to i have no problem getting in my Proteins. That is why i stop the shakes cause i would be so hungry. I rather have the food. Hopefully it will get better.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
