I used a heating pad and walked around a lot, but I hear a lot of people say gas strips were really helpful. Good Luck! :)

Walking and swinging my arms helped, and a heating pad on my back.

Hi GmasDolly,

I had my band placed on 12/27 and the things that really helped me were the heating pad, hot tea and gax-x strips. I also found that laying on my left side was very helpful.

Good luck with your recovery.

I had horrible pains. I used the heating pad around the clock. And circled my arms. I know it sounds crazy but it sure helped. I would do circles while I walked through the house each hour. If anyone had been peeking in my windows they would have thought I was crazy.

I tried last night on my left side and almost cried. The port is on that side and my shoulder felt like I had a cinder block on it.

Walking has helped me. Was banded Friday and did several laps around the hospital unit. I've been taking short walks around the block each day since coming home also. Good luck and hang in there!

1 day post op and can only walk inside the house and up the stairs. I live in ny and it's freezing out. Little by little I will increase my walking. Am I doing the right thing right now?

Sounds good to me! I'm in PA and its freezing here too! Do what you can, but don't overdo it. Others have suggested heating pads or heated blankets so try those if you have them. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
