I know that it is the beging of my journey but I am upset. So here is my story, I was banded on Jan 10th, the surgery went very well and no problems. I was told for eating I should have 1 ounce of Water at a time to increase this as tolerated. I was also to have 1 ounce of Protein every 20 mins. Never having liquids with food separated only by 20 mins. I have followed this to the t. There is not much to eat and I understand it. I am not hungry at all. My problem how the hell did I gain a pound. This is at the begging of this, how can this be. Has this happened to any one else?

First of all congrats on your decision. It is not impossible to gain weight in the beginning. Your body is adjusting to the calorie deficit. I do not think eating Protein every 20 minutes is right. By now you should be on mushy foods which means 3 to four ounces 3 times a day and that is all. If you are eating every 20 minutes you will gain weight.

Hopefully - yes it happened to me too. I fluctuated up 1-2 lbs during the mushies phase post op. But once I got on solids and the swelling was going down I lost an additional 7.5lbs in the last 11 days. Don't get upset. You just had surgery and you need to heal. I was banded on 12/21 so it did take a few weeks. Stay off the scale during this time if it does upset you. Have faith that it will kick back in.

I recommend you check in with the surgeon's office. The post-op diet normally has phases and you should have advanced by now. Confirm it with the office or nutritionist.

Don't worry about the weight right now. You should be focusing on the healing. Your body has a foreign object in it and it's an adjustment internally as well as externally. Do check with your surgeon and let them know of your concerns. Stress is not good for weightloss, know that you made a smart decision and look forward to outcome.

the body holds onto Water differently each day...I lost 3 lbs one day and gain it back the next. I weight daily and market on my calendar and I can see a pattern with ups and down. I get excited about the lowest weight that shows up no matter when that is. One pound????really!!!! calm down it comes when it comes just keep up the good work.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
