I'm a month post op and have been doing great. I haven't had fills yet but feel restriction so I always make sure to eat good. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with flat bread? I found one called Flat Out with 90 calories and 9g Protein. It's 100% whole wheat. I was wanting to make pizza, using it as the crust. Any advice or other options or do y'all think its to soon for flat bread.?

If I were to eat flat bread, this would be a great choice. Especially since it's 100% whole wheat.

In fact my kids have been wanting to make homemade pizza...I think I'll have to look for this locally!

EDIT: And as long as your surgeon has ok'd you to be on solid foods, I say go cautiously and slowly but enjoy.

I really like this stuff, Italian is my favorite. I have not made a pizza with it, but I bet it would be good, I just use it for sandwiches or just eat it alone.

Missy, look in the deli area for it. Kroger has it and I believe Wal-Mart started finally carrying it.

Thanks! I have been on solids for 2 weeks and have tried chicken, salmon, tilapia and turkey ground meat and haven't had any problems (thank goodness). I want to make a pizza with mushrooms and turkey pepperoni which by the way is delicious. Well it is a learning process so I gotta try and learn!

bread is really tough at first. I make pizza but use the Arnold flat rounds, the multigrain or wheat. They are 50 calories for half. I toast it first, then put everything on it and bake it at 350 for 16 minutes. I use FF feta, grated parmesan, and turkey sausage crumbles and turkey pepperoni. My husbands loves it too!

Your kids will love helping you make them!

I love this idea for pizza. I have used whole wheat tortillas before and my husband liked those. I bet my kids would like the ones you described. Thanks for sharing!

That's a great idea! My kids would love that. I have to try it and the rounds will be easy to proportion.

I use them and they are great! I bought some Buffalo Wild Wing sauce and use that with some low fat cheese and chicken... and make a Buffalo Flat bread pizza... I put mine under the broiler...

SOOOO good!

May sound crazy but I take long romaine lettuce leafs and anytime I want soft tacos, pizza, hamburger I just use the lettuce in place of the bread. I put hot pizza sauce that I added my pepperoni to and spread it on the leaf and then sprinkle shredded motz 2%cheese and it is fab...soft tacos are even better rolled in the leaf after addin the meat, sour cream, pico and guacamole...nothin like it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
