Got a $2,700.00 bill for fluro!

Recommended Posts

I am a self-pay patient, and my doctor's office has a contract with the hospital for lap band fills under fluro. It is $150.00 for the hospital portion, and whatever the doctor fee is (usually around $125.00). Well I guess they decided to bill my insurance, which I told the admitting lady that my insurance would not pay. Well to my surprise I received a bill for over 2,700.00 for this procedure. This was down from the over $4,000.00 they wanted to charge. My mom is self pay as well, and she had a fill under fluro about a month before I did. She never received this outrageous bill so I'm going to have to have a nice conversation with the hospital tomorrow. Should be interesting. I'm a little afraid, but I know what we were told by the admitting people. I'm just venting a little tonight. Sorry.

Stay strong and work with them. I think cash pays are usually less then ins so make sure you check with them again. Good luck.

Thank you. I don't know why they filed it on my insurance. I told them up front I was self pay, and all my paperwork had self pay on it. I guess I'll see how it goes in the morning.

Most hospitals file insurance no matter what you tell them. Good luck yelling at them!

JJ - hang tough and don't get nasty with them until you have to. My hospital billed everything through my insurance as ancillary which my insurance doesn't cover and I got a big fat bill for over $10k because they didn't put it through right. I will be calling the hospital tomorrow myself. Good luck with getting it all straightened out!

Well that was relatively easy. I called, told her what was going on, and she looked and said okay, I'll do an adjustment on this today. No problems whatsoever (hopefully). :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
