Augustina 5 Posted January 20, 2013 Hi there, I'm Augustina and am new to this forum. I just got banded this past Monday, Jan 14th. Currently, my biggest issue is the three letter word, gas. I've tried chewable gas-x and I've burped a few times, but I still feel the chest discomfort. It varies from feeling like I have something heavy on my chest or a frog in my esophagus. I'm not sure if this is gas (pretty sure it is tho... once I burp, I feel some relief) or if I'm full. With this I've been getting nausea and because I feel nauseous/can't breathe, it's hsrd to drink all my Protein Shakes and the required Water needed. Any suggestions or familiar feelings?? I feel so alone in this, so any feedback is truly appreciated. Thanks sooo much!
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted January 20, 2013 Welcome! Yes, that's because they pump gas into your abdominal cavity during the surgery. It's a pretty common discomfort afterward. The best thing you can do is to walk as much as you can. Because it's not in your digest system, your body has to reabsorb it. Walking helps your body do this. I also found a heating pad helped ease the discomfort, too. Best wishes. 1 Augustina reacted to this
heatherleyre 1 Posted January 20, 2013 I had my sugery in May. Currently I am struggling with over eating, eating throughout the day and even when I am not hungry. I'm down 51 pounds but feel it could have been but. I'm struggling the most with wanting to over eat. Am I alone?
LeslieW 92 Posted January 20, 2013 Walk walk walk walk walk.. It is the only thing that helped me. I was banded on Friday the 11th. It will start to go away soon for you. One day I was all gassy and the next I woke up thinking.. Oh wow.. I feel good today. I think the gas has been the part I hated. Good luck to you! 1 Augustina reacted to this
