I'm almost 4 weeks post op & I've started to notice only on my face small fine bumps are starting to appear. Only thing I've introduce new after having the surgery is the 100% whey Protein Shakes & Biotin. Is this normal or do I need to be worried?!?! Any similar issues?!?!

I wouldn't worry about it, but I would call your Dr or Nutritionist and tell them.

I have all kinds of skin problems that run in my family and sometimes little things can irritate your system. So like I said, don't worry, just check it out.

I've been taking Biotin for years since my mom gave me a tip to take it after she had bypass done and I did not get bumps from this. And I'm not sure if the Protein Shakes are doing it because I actually just started getting some bumps on my face, which are not red, don't hurt, or anything and are just raised bumps that I can only feel, but I have been doing a Protein Shake everyday to help keep up my Protein numbers and this may be it, but I also got a clarisonic, so I'm not sure if that did it :). I'm probably not helping much.

Thanks Maddysgram I'm just a little worried didnt know if i was having allergic reaction to something.. 2012 those are the same kind of bumps that I have on my face. They don't hurt or itch but they are small raised bumps that I've notice all of a sudden.

Keesh - My skin is a big old mess right now...sounds exactly what you have...I have a whole bunch of very fine bumps on my left cheek and the right side of my chin. I'm not too worried about it just yet because I've had my skin go haywire before when I've completely revamped my diet. That's what I figure caused it. Two weeks of pre-op diet of strictly Protein Shakes, then liquid diet, then mushies, then soft foods, and now solids consisting of all Protein and veggies. I figure it's just a skin detox and it will clear up on it's own. I'm going to give it a couple of months until everything levels out a bit. If it doesn't appear to be getting better then I might consult a dermatologist.

Thanks Jewels, I was thinking that maybe it was the 100% Whey Protein Shakes. I was looking up some allergies to it & hives & eczema are two symptoms. Don't know if I need to change or not......

Keesh - Of course allergies can always be a possibility. In my case I don't think that's it because I've done the Atkins diet having whey Protein Shakes for Breakfast every day and my skin never reacted like this. However, every time I do change my diet extremely (from all fast food and fatty foods to lean Protein and veggies or vice versa) my skin bugs out in some way...whether breaking out, getting too dry to the point of redness and itchiness, etc. If you've never had whey protein shakes before then it definitely wouldn't hurt to ask. Actually, either way it doesn't hurt to ask your doc. This could be so totally common and we just don't know it. Here's to hoping your skin and mine clear up soon!

Ok Thanks Jewel I feel a lil bit better knowing people with the similar skin issues. I'll probably just keep watching it closely but your absolutely right my body is going through something drastic with the different phases of this diets. I agree I hope our skin gets better soon:-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
