I have to loose 12lbs before surgery and I am so focused and I am not swaying from my diet. My kids had Cookies and ice cream last night and I wasn't even tempted to cheat. I want this so bad and I refuse to do anything that will delay it. But why can't I have the will power to do this on my own?! I know that with the band I will still have to work hard to be able to succeed, but I wish I could do it without surgery. Just venting, I still plan on going through with surgery I just want to be able to do it on my own. Does anyone feel the same way?

I think you have the will power right now because you know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Trust me, with the band you are also doing it on your own. Without you making the right choices, changing your lifestyle, and following the lap-band rules you will end up with the same poor results you have had in the past! Don't feel like your cheating or doing it the easy way, because there is nothing easy about it. It's a tool that can be used successfully or unsuccessfully, it's all up to YOU 100%! Please don't over think it, doing that will only drive you crazy! I do understand where your coming from, because I thought the same thing! Now that I have seen for myself what it takes, and how I have had success as well as set backs, I have realized it all depends on ME! Good Luck!

Yes, especially since I was self pay and it's not cheap. But I realized, I am a champion at losing weight, I've done it a million times since I was a kid, my downfall, keeping it off. I'm hoping this time I'll learn my lesson and keep it off. Usually I tire of a diet pretty quickly (3 months or so) and go back to my old ways, but for some reason this lap band lifestyle is sticking and I've been doing it since July. I have confidence I can do it this time. Probably will have to be on LBT for the rest of my life :), but the support really helps.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
