I was banded on 12/21 and I only have clearance for cardio. No sit ups or weights yet. I go back to the doc in early February.

I wasn't cleared to do anything but walking for 6 weeks. Although you might feel good, you are still healing inside.

I think drs vary on the gym as much as they vary on diets and port placement:)

My dr said walking from day 1 is great and encouraged.

I had a 2 week post op, nothing abt exercise mentioned, so I continued walking.

At 4 week post op, they said I could start cardio and eplitical at gym, things like that. I can ice skate since I fall on my butt not my port and I can bowl but if my stomach area hurts I have to stop. (I only asked about those 2 things bc my kids like me to join them in those activities)

I go back at 8 weeks so that's probably when everything else can be added on (just a guess).

I want to start zumba and the class starts feb.6. I'm thinking that counts as cardio, or does anyone think it will hurt my stomach area?

I went to the treadmill at 4 weeks, then started Pilates training at 6. My port still gets sore periodically whether I am working at the gym or not. I kind of went with when I got a fill I was healed enough for exercise.

Check with your Dr.....I had a i week post-op follow up where he checked my incisions, any complaints I may ave had, etc,,,

It was then, at 1 week I was cleared to go to the gym, and also allowed to soak in a hot tub - sauna....but he told me no heavy lifting for 3 more weeks, 4 weeks total fro surgery....

I was told to walk all I wanted immediately after surgery. However, lifting and weight bearing exercises I was told to give it 4 weeks. He said not because it would dislodge the band, but because it was still surgery and every body needs time to heal! I figured I went years without lifting weights or doing stomach exercises, I could wait another 4 weeks. I would definitely talk to your surgeon regarding his opinions on limitations. You don't want anything to happen to yourself and have the surgeon question why you weren't following HIS instructions!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
