How are people supplementing their Fiber intake? I've been trying those Vitafusion fiber gummies and they only seem to give me gas and I got some Fiber One (original) last night to throw into my yogurt to get in 14 grams, but just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions? In the past benefiber did not work too well for me, which is what the nutritionist recommends, and I wanted to look into other options. I saw something called Psyllum Husks (spelling is probably wrong) and not sure if that would be good supplement if anyone has any experience with this? Thanks

During the liquid stages my dr had me use Benefiber 2x a day. After that he prefers I get my calories, fiber and nutrition from solid foods.

I started taking 2 fiber gummies a day. They are by Fiber Choice which is what my local Walmart had. I've been taking them for a few weeks now and they have helped tremendously. As for gas, I have it, I let it out but it's not any worse since I started taking the gummies.

I have to take half dose of Miralax every day to even approach regular. Benefiber and Collace do nothing for me.

Thank you everyone for the input.

Line-dancer, have you ever tried a probiotic? They work pretty well for me but it seems like the one I'm taking is no longer effective, so I may try fiber choice or another probiotic. From what I read today, it seems like both Align and Cultruelle are supposed to be the better choices in helping in this area.

That's a good suggestion, I stopped taking Sustenex after surgery because I was fearful of the size of the pill and switched to pearls, which did good for about 6 months, but now not so much. What kind did you take CG?

I agree with miralax and also Probiotics and my mom and all her friends are doing chia seeds in yogurt. My nurse called chias the new designer fiber.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
