So I was banded on the 8th of January. I must say that Ive struggled with my weight so long I want to see results like right now but I understand that this too takes time. Any suggestions on how to take my mind off this before I freak out??

Create your game plan. How are you going to manage your meals, Type of meals, pre make meals, etc... Exercise, what are you going to do? Walk? Go to the Gym? Do you have a Water bottle? What are your food triggers (head hunger)? Do you eat when you are bored? Upset? Stressed? How will you cope with that?

And if that doesn't do it, start cleaning out closest & draws in your house. Do whatever you need to do to stay busy and focus on the mission at hand. To be healthy.

Good luck to you.

The other thing I did early in my journey was I kept a journal. I tried to log every day, logged what I was feeling, any issues I had especially with food. figured out that I eat when I'm bored, so for me keeping busy was critical. The head hunger is going to be the hardest battle. If only we could band our heads.

Bottom line is don't loose focus on your goal, do everything you can to get there and don't let anything stop you!

You can do this.

Oh and come back here daily, this is the best support you will find!

Do things that have nothing to do with weight loss. Things that don't involve food. Watch a good movie, read a good book, go walk the mall, go to the movies, there is so much you can do to not think about food.

Just live.... The journey is one meal at a time...exactly the way the weight went on. The best thing I could tell you is to go about your daily life as normal.... Do the same things you used to do but omit the overeating part of life as you knew it. The weight will come off...I promise.

I did most things everyone has said above. Plus joining this forum has been I way for me to connect with others, even when I don't say a thing I peek at what others are saying and it helps. I also track and journal everything. It's starting to become 2nd nature. Banded 11/29 down 27lbs. Your on your way too. Stay focused!!

My doc told me with the band the weight loss would b slow. Like being on a diet. My psychologist told me to start a to do box n every time I felt like eating out of boredom to pull out something to do instead. Keep your portions small as suggested by your doc or nut n include lots of Protein.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
