I am two days post-op as well and my mouth is very dry too. I just sip on Water or eat ice chips very frequently.

I had that problem and it goes with being dehydrated. Just keep sipping or eat ice chips. If you are doing liquids, have some broth. The sodium in the broth actually helps. It took almost 2 months before I stopped having dry mouth spells, I was banded NOv 8.

It is really important to get your liquids in. I didn't and ended up at an urgent care center for 4 hours getting 2 bags of Fluid. I was about 1 1/2 weeks out of surgery.

Good luck, you can do this, things take time

Sip, sip, sip. Dry mouth is very common and it tells you you are dehydrated.

I too was banded on the 14th :0) I have a drink bottle of Water with me all day to wet my really dry mouth. I'm going back to work on Monday and I'm on my feet for 5 hours and I feel fine about it. Not a hard labour job but don't think I'll have too many problems now that the air is out of my chest. In saying that....... I'll let you know Monday after work if it was a good dicision or not lol. Good luck and happy healing xoxox

I suffer from chronic dry mouth and lips .I have been to my gp and my dentist and have researched on the internet. There are products you can try like biotene who offer a mouthwash, gum, toothpaste, a gel you can put on your tongue and a mist you can spray in your mouth. You can chew gum or even get mints from the Vitamin Shoppe where the fist ingredient is xylitol. This is a sweetner that helps saliva flow. I chew ice cubes gum by icebreakers or you can get some from Vitamin shoppe or even Amazon. I have tried script mouthwashes several and the best thing that works is swishing your mouth with mylanta. I use the cherry generic from cvs and you can use as needed. It coats your tongue and brings relief for short periods. This not always caused by dehydration. It can be meds that you were on that are reacting to your lesser calories. I drink tons of Water a day and it doesnt help at all. Right now my tongue feels like the top was stripped off . Also if you are a smoker that should be the first thing you change. Smoking will only make it worse. sorry you are all having trouble I hope this information helps you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
