The other day while doing a little bit of research I found a paper written on the lap band and there were many comments on the bottom and one lady said that at the beginning stages of her lapband she ate with a baby fork and spoon until she retrained her self to eat small bits! Has any one done this? And does it work if so?

During one of the informational sessions I had to attend, my surgeon mentioned this and also encouraged it.

My surgeon request that is what we do. As a matter of fact every time i go in he says it.

You can only pick up so much food with that little fork. It forces you to take small bites. Chew chew chew an you pay attention to how you are eating.

Oh an the small plate well you can only put so much on it ;)

I read about using chopsticks, and as soon as I hit the solid food phase I am going to try that. I will definitely feel more manly whipping out a pair of chopsticks than a baby fork at my desk at work.

I used a baby spoon and fork at the beginning of my journey. I felt it really helped to teach me to take small bites. Now a year a later, I just use normal utensils because small bites are second nature to me, but I would definitely recommend it to someone just starting out.

I did the same thing and I also used a small plate.... I still use a small plate but like Mis know my bite size so do not need to go with the small utencils. I think its crutial for the first few month to use them when you are at home.... it will become 2nd nature then.

Yes.... and Yes.... I also bought a kids plate, you know the ones with cartoons on them and three parts. According to my dr. , bites should be no bigger than the nail on your pinky finger. Hope this helps

Erin, it's best to check with your doctor. but i would start simple with walking and then increase with speed and distance. I also joined Zumba. I was a HOT mess in that class, but the instructor said, don't worry about getting it right... the main thing is to keep moving.... Also did some swimming. But it was a while before i started doing weights.

I am getting banded on February 13th. In preparation, I bought a kids set of utensils. Disney princesses. I am pretty excited to be using them! :)

This sounds like a pretty good idea, I'm definitely going to give this a shot when I get banded. Thank you for sharing this!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
