Shanna H 30 Posted January 17, 2013 A few days ago, I took my pills as usual one at a time. They all seemed to go down successfully. About 20 mins later it felt as though I had taken a real hard swallow and you know how it stings a bit? It caused me to vomit a little bit but nothing came up except "slime". Well, I now feel I have a lump in my esophagus somewhere under my sternum. Is this the "stuck" feeling and should I go on liquids for the day? What could possibly be stuck since it was a pill and it should of dissolved by now? I see my doctor tomorrow but want to be prepared. Is there a better way to explain it to my surgeon or did I do a good enough job? Thanks
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted January 17, 2013 Sounds like a stuck issue and even though the pill did dissolve it probably irritated your esophagus and staying on fluids awhile would help. Discuss this with your DR. Good Luck! 1 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! reacted to this

cheryl2586 3,053 Posted January 17, 2013 You probably irritated it and now are a bit swollen. But call your doctor. 1 Maddysgram reacted to this
laurigee 545 Posted January 17, 2013 I had a problem where a large pill got stuck in my esophagus. It didn't desolve because the pill dissolves with stomach acids not liquids. However, when this happened to me I could not swallow ANYTHING even Water without it projectily shooting back out. The doctor had to retrieve it with a scope type instrument. If you are able to get food and liquids down and are just having a stuck feeling you may have been stuck for a little bit but it pushed it's way down. Now it is probably just irritated from sitting there. Definitely tell your doctor! Let us know how it goes!
