That's the site I've been talking about! it's TOXIC! It seriously scared the crap out of me....I stay far away from there!

And yes, I read the same thing on there & that was the very 1st time I heard of LB & Lupus! BOGUS!

Also, the psych at my surgeon's office recommended that site to me?!?

I hope you contact that psych and tell them not to recommend that site anymore, lol

Leslie I think it was your post!!! Good grief there are some miserable people over there.

Yep that was my post. What they didnt see was my husband having to tell me I am ok and that I am not going to fail. He has been a trooper with all of this. He even has slept on the couch next to me all week while I have slept in my chair.

I am so happy to have found this forum. I will be sticking around here lol.

Hi Leslie ~

Well it sounds like you separated fact from fiction here so way to go!!!! I dont think, or would like to think, that the decision to proceed to enter into surgery is not taken lightly and we all strive for better health, hence this journey, so these people that criticize after the fact are simply, selfish bonheads and wanting to beak off!

I am heading off to Toronto from Calgary for my surgery on Feb 14, (Happy Heart day to me!) so I am curious how the post op recovery was? I am having the surgery on Friday morning, we are staying in Toronto till Monday then flying back and I was going to go back to work on Tuesday. Did you feel ok enough to return to regular life type stuff after 4 days???

How many days did any of you stay on the clear broth before you went to the thicker stuff? Many quesitons I know...thanks for answering. I bought a Vitamix to help with the slushy drinks! Hleps to mix up the ugly tasting healthy stuff with the better tasting stuff!!

Well I am 6 days post op today. To tell you the truth I felt horrible until today. I was weak and just sleeping all the time. However, a lot of people do much better than I did. I do not react well to pain meds. They knock me out for days. Also, I had a hernia repair, lapband and plication done at the same time. So I think I just needed a little extra time. Because I had plication with the band my diet is 2 weeks clear, 2 weeks full, 2 weeks mushy, then to try for the more solid foods. I think the regular band diet is one week each stage.

Now this morning, I woke up feeling great and got froggy. I went to a friends house and walked around a store for a few minutes. We went to Olive Garden and got Soup. I ate the clear broth off of one of their Soups. The experience was odd to say the least. I took three sips of my drink and have about 8 spoonfuls of Soup and brought the rest home. I think the waitress was a little put off lol. I would say I was out for about 4 hours and promptly fell asleep for the next 4 when I got home. I have read a lot of people feel a lot better than I did sooner after surgery. I am happy to be feeling great now and really just think it is up to each individual body how well they are doing. If you can take at least a week off work, I would.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
