Sorry, just needed to put that out there. My surgeon recommends no execrcise other than walking for the first three months. This sucks, walking has always been my least favorite form of exercise. I'm ready to get moving. Vent over :(

I'm just the opposite, I love walking. I love being outside, love being by myself b/c I can think without someone interupting. I've lost 100's of lbs just by walking in the past.

For the last 3yrs I have not been able to walk. I need double knee replacement and that is the reason for LBS. Since I can't walk to lose weight and I need to lose weight for an easier replacement. Catch 22!

Follow your Drs plan, he's not trying to punish you and you will be at the gym in no time.

Smile, you can walk!

Don't get me wrong, just venting. I'm incredibly blessed to be able to walk. I'm just ready to be active and get this weight off.

I don't like it particularly either, but it beats being a couch potato. Now if I had a beach to walk on like Mads, I might change my mind! :)

believe it or not, i use to do step aerobics and do mini marathons via walking...flash forward many yrs..i allowed myself to get very large and wasnt able to hardly walk at all...now i can get around better and i dont take it for granted...so walking isnt soo bad and try walking up hill or up stairs and find out just how easy walking is...so walking only for 3 months isnt soo bad...make sure you wave at me as your run on by :)

I think I just prefer something more entertaining. Lol. I'd love to get back jogging. My goal is a half marathon next year, and several 5ks this year. That 3 months def put me behind schedule. Lol

Do you have it an mp3 player or something like that? Or could you download radio shows or books on tape is? I find walking boring if I don't have something to keep me entertained.

Oh I know you were just venting, I didn't get you wrong. I pretty much was just venting my frustration too, lol. I get you!

One day soon I will walk and like CG said "wave when you pass me".

We'll get there!

All docs are different. At my 2 week follow up, mine said I could do anything, as tolerated, including sit-ups. I didn't start doing those until 5 weeks because I just didn't feel ready.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
