2x the protein & only 80 calories

Recommended Posts

FYI: I have just tried the Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt and it tastes just like the higher calorie ones...It has only 7 grams of sugar, 0 fat and 12 grams of Protein per serving.I also add some Kashi Cereal for some crunch and extra protein...very good!

I agree! I was using the regular Dannon Greek because I loved the texture vs Chobani, but have switched to the 80 calorie version of the Dannon because it saves me 40 calories per serving. Now I can add my homemade granola and not overload on calories.

I love the taste of the Dannon light an fit greek yogurt. And it is 80 calories with the fruit vs Chobani 140 calories. So glad this came out. Just wish it wasn't so expensive.

rkimom - do you have a recipe for the homemade granola?

1/4 c. Real maple Syrup

3 tbs. canola oil

1 tbs. Water

Almond extract - I don't measure it, I just pour

Heat to a simmer.

2 cups old fashioned oats

1/2 c. Wheat germ OR ground flax seed

2 tbs. dark brown sugar - i use the Splenda version

1/4 tsp. salt

1/2 c. Sliced almonds

Pour the syrup mixture over the dry, mix well.

Spread over a 9 x 13 pan or cookie sheet and press down.

Bake at 275' for 25 minutes

Stir, then put back in oven for an additional 10 minutes.

Cool well, than put in an airtight container and it will keep for about a month.

A little bit goes a long way on yogurt or cooked oatmeal.

With the almonds, 1/4 c. has about 80 calories.

Much tastier and MUCH healthier than the store versions.

You can also add in lots of other things-different nuts, coconut, dried fruit-but most of the fruits don't work we'll with the band.

Good luck! It's one of the staples in my household...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
