Going on a cruise soon and I'm sure it'll include pool and beach time. This means I'll have to bare my upper half which means the surgery incisions will show.

I've decided that if anyone asks I'm going to say I was in a knife fight. As with any fight someone invariably sees the damage and asks about it. The common response (if you're a dude) is: "You should see the other guy!". My plan is to cut it short with: "Yeah... I'm the other guy!".

Seriously, how do y'all deal with the incision scars? Do they eventually go away by themselves or do I need to take some action like rubbing Vitamin E on them? I'm ugly enough already - don't need to give little kids more reason to scream, cry and run away when they see me...

I am certainly not a man to comment on that; however, my fiance wears swim shirts when he swims if you feel more comfortable doing that... or a tank top ;)

Who is going to ask about the scars. That isn't something a stranger should do as that would just be downright rude - tell them to MYOB. If it is a friend that is close but hasn't seen your scars then you might want to share the truth but obviously only if you are comfortable doing so.

You probably imagine that your scars look worse than they do , i doubt they are so bad that they could scare someone.

LOL! I think my post was poorly created. My intent was:

1. To be humorous, at least the first and last parts of it. Swing and a miss!

2. To ask if the incisions would eventually scar or just go away.

We cruise all the time....always at the beach and always at the pool....topless....

My scars are gone, bu you should see my port,,,as big as a golfball right under the layer of skin,,,,,

I don't care what other people think...I don't know them and will never see them again...

I am 2 and a half years out and for of my scars look like little bug bites. Someone would really have to be looking for them to notice. And my port scar has healed better then my larger gallbladder incisions from over 20 years ago.

If you had a good doctor the scars will fade in time. My lapband scars are going away nicely at 6 months post op. However, my gallbladder scars are very obvious (had my gallbladder removed in Aug. 2010). My lapband doctor even commented on my scars from that and explained how he closes and that his way wouldn't create scars like that.

My scars after a year just looked like little tan spots. You'd never notice them.

After 9 months my scars are just about gone. I usually wear a shirt when I swim. Being an Irish boy I burn quite easily. If it were me though and someone asked I would just tell them I recently had my gallbladder removed.

Have fun on that Cruise!!

I am in the exact same boat. I had my gallbladder removed in 2005. Those scars are much worse.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
