Is the pain in my back a sign?

Recommended Posts

I do not feel restriction (that I know of) but the last couple nights while eating, I have had a sharp pain in my back - like I need to burp really bad but can't...is this a sign of restriction? I feel so stupid!

Don't feel stupid, you haven't done anything wrong.

The pain in your back could be just gas, or maybe it is a sign that you've had enough to eat. The band pushes on different nerves . So do you get this pain while eating or long after you've eaten?

My Dr told me that the pain would be in my chest. I have the nerve that shoots up into my shoulder, when I've had enough to eat and with the first twinge of pain, you do not want to eat one more bite. It's very painful.

I haven't got restriction yet and still get the stop eating sign.

You should call your Dr and discuss this with him to make sure on whats going on. I'm only guessing!

I only get it while eating, like there's an air bubble and after about 5 minutes, it's gone.

Sounds like your full sign. That's how my shoulder is,as soon as I stop eating it goes away.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
