I'm freaking out :/ well, cheating is only hurting yourself. so dont do it again as long as you get right back on the right track, i am sure you will be fine. the pre diet it to shrink your liver so the dr can operate on you. but its very important to stay on the diets the dr advises you. esp after surgery. eating too soon after surgery could cause harm to you.. yes its hard and yes it is tough but its worth it. you are worth it..best of luck 3 Sojourner, Banjo257 and CHEZNOEL reacted to this
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted January 16, 2013 Why? Just why? Until you know the answer, this will continue to happen t you along your journey. It takes a lot of energy to analyze ourselves and understand out eating patterns. Good luck with yours! 1 Sojourner reacted to this

Changing your food habits and your relationship with food takes time. If you slip up, beware of it and start over again. It will be ok, have been there a few times through my journey (1 year post op) and keep learning from each time. 3 lauradevans, Sarah75 and Blondie638 reacted to this

Yes, I believe we all understand that we had issues with eating and poor choices in that area...but the process of change does need to begin at some point. No one can be perfect, however if we don't make a commitment early on during this journey, then it does become more difficult to loose the bad habits. Certainly the pre and post op times are the most difficult...diet compliance does come with a "restart button"...we just have to try not to use it too often. Just my opinion...others mileage may vary...
dfav3412 116 Posted January 17, 2013 Golly, I'm busy tonight...my thrid post .... Just keep your eye on the prize so to speak, do what your doc tells you pre and post op diet wise. I promise you that you eventually will be able to eat solid, healthy, tasty food again.
DidThis4Me 26 Posted January 17, 2013 Today was rough for me too. I'm almost 3 weeks post op. I had an extremely nagging craving for a hamburger and a milkshake today. Instead of caving in and rationalizing like I normally would (I work hard so I deserve this, it's early in the day, I'll get back on track tomorrow, etc), I prayed for the strength to resist. I drank as much Water as I could hold, and instead of having that milkshake, I had a serving of plain greek yogurt with a packet of Truvia and a dash of vanilla, and that helped with the milkshake craving (ice cream has always been one of my weaknesses). Some days are better than others, but Sojourner is right: We DO have to make an early commitment and stick to it. Otherwise, every day will end up being a restart day. I'm considering joining Overeaters Anonymous to help me work through some of my issues. Good luck. 1 makeyourself reacted to this
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted January 17, 2013 In all reality cheating is only hurting you. You have to want this with all your heart. The time spent on the pre op and post op is only a small portion out of your life. It's hard but cheating only makes you feel bad. We all can say it's okay it's only once get back on track but learning that life is not about having a relationship with food needs to start now. Why do something that you have to feel guilty over after you do it.
