I am still pre-op but have lost 34 lbs from my heaviest and I am still wearing the same clothes.

My husband tells me he can see a change in my face and upper body (under my boobs looks more narrow).

Hang in there if the scales are moving change is coming. Sounds like you are doing great if you have lost 40 lbs.

Have you tried taking before and after pictures? Can you see a difference anyplace else?

No don't let it get you down at all. A couple reasons:

First, it's entirely possible your clothes "gained" along with you originally. This is especially true if they're cotton, cotton is stretchy and as we gradually gain weight it will stretch with us. So, when you lose, it's not as noticeable.

Also, you're used to seeing yourself in your clothes. Have you tried going to the store and trying on new stuff? See what size you fit into best and how it looks on you? You may see a big difference then.

When I was first losing, I actually lost 60 pounds before I felt the need to buy new clothes for all the reasons above.

You're doing great, keep at it :)

Yeah, I hit my 40 lb weight loss and was elated, finally under 300. I don't see it in my clothes either, and I am also a bit let down (40 sounded like SO many pounds!) but I trudge on and keep looking forward to a "nsv" or a wls aHa moment!

I trust Missy that the day will come. :)

Be patient. It starts top down. The face is often the first tell sound. Take monthly measurements. Missy is right, some of our clothes stretch to fit the size we are.

One thing I was told by one of my nutritionists is that plus size clothes are able to fit a wider range. If you loose 30 pound as a size say 14 you will drop a couple sizes, but that same weight loss in larger sizes will take a little longer. I am down 40 pounds and still wearing the same size too. I am getting close to going down the next size though. Keep up the good work!!

We lose weight from top to bottom....just like the way gravity works so we always see a loss in the face first... Then neck shoulders and if you are like I am ...my weight was certainly everywhere but mostly in my hips and legs .... Considering my measurements were 44/42/77. I thought it would take forever until I lost below the waist and my clothes fell off me... I lost 100 lbs and I was still wearing a 1x skirt and xl tops.... But it eventually does come off because 2 years later I am 34/28/37.... Wearing smalls and 6/8s

So while the scale is moving please remember the weight is coming off from somewhere....don't worry about your clothes yet.... The will fall off before you know it.

You are doing a wonderful job!!!

Floridays is SO right!! I'm still in the process of losing and my top half is a lot smaller than my bottom half. In fact, my face looks like a skinny person. I can even see my collar bones already, too. Yet, I still have 80+ pounds to lose and most of that is all on my lower tummy, butt, and legs.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
