Hopefully 6 Posted January 15, 2013 I was banded on Jan. 10th, and everything went well. Two days after, I started to burp a lot . I like to know if this is okay, should I be concern? I also when I get up in the morning I start to get some pain in the lower part of my throat. I had a hernia repaired also. Once I get up and moving it goes a way. Is this normal? Also, my biggest concern is the upper part of my stomach is so very swollen; is this normal? My last concern is I haven't eaten much, but I have not had a bowl movement, I not uncomfortable, is this okay? I have tried to contact the nutristants but she out with the flue. So much appreciate everyone's help.
catfish87 3,471 Posted January 15, 2013 I didn't have the hernia, but I dont think abnormal to have a dry/scratchy throat. You may still have some bloating from the gas they used in your surgery. Most folks would suggest to take gas x type aids. Try and walk as much as you can tolerate. My dr had me on Clear liquids for a week after surgery so not eating was fine, per my instructions. Finally, I'd suggest to confirm with your Dr and take a stool softner every day or as recommended by your medical professional. You do NOT want to be backed up. kazjim98 618 Posted January 15, 2013 I also had a hernia repaired and you sound just like I did 4 weeks ago! My bloated feeling went away around day 5 and my hunger slowly returned then. My doc okayed a stool softner daily and Miralax if needed, but I would get the go ahead from your doc or nutritionist to be on the safe side...like catfish said you do not want to be backed up! Congratulations on your surgery and every day you will feel more and more normal I promise! 1 catfish87 reacted to this
txtroublez28 24 Posted January 15, 2013 Had a hernia too. Was swollen for 3 weeks. Keep up your walking to vet the gas out as well as have someone burp you if u like. Felt good to me. As for no bowel movement take some expect as you should have done something by now. My throat hurt for the.first week. Do your liquids only for week one. Mushy for the.second. Kime-lou 648 Posted January 15, 2013 It takes a month at least for all the swelling and pressure to disapate. You may want to try raising the head of your bed or sleeping with multiple pillows to keep the Fluid from pooling in this area.
