So sorry to hear that. I hope staying on liquids helps. Keep us posted on whats going on.

I'm only 3mths out and going in for a port revision, b/c of a flip. Really wasn't expecting that so soon.

Hoping for the best for you!

I hope things getting better. I know as we age things change and move in there, hopefully after some rest you will be able to move forward without problems.

At the least maybe they can give you something like prilosec or zantac to help with it.

My first fill went fine, one poke and 3cc. Second attempt 10 pokes, no go, went to xray and port was flipped completely over. Dr tried manually turning it back, but wouldn't budge.

As long as it's just tipped, you should be fine.

Even with this bump in the road, I'd do it again.

Im very curious to know how the thread starter has been.

I was banded march 08 and am just now having some problems with food getting stuck. More like air bubbles not letting food go down, and then esophagus feels constricted. Ive tried going on liquid but sometime get stuck on that. Hmm

I've had very good luck with the band, having lost 100 pounds. Had a revision 18 months ago. Band slipped. I think the PA over filled it. This band has given more trouble than first, nausea, vomiting. Never heartburn, though. Nevertheless, tests indicate Barretts esophagus. Doctor prescribed a proton pump inhibitor, which helps a lot. Have learned that I have a structure l(auto correct won't let me type s t r I c t u r e, insisting that it is structure) at bottom of esophagus. Won't know more until G I guy returns from vacation in Feb. Fear he'll say band must come out and I'll gain 110 pounds.

My story is long . I got banded in 08 in 13 my band slipped . I lost a total of 93 lbs. once I got my band revised I gain about 40 lbs. until I got the right fill and I started losing again . Lost about 35 of the 40 that I gained , and all of the sudden my band stopped working. I kept going back getting fills and nothing . One day I was on a lap band blog and this gentleman said maybe your band has slipped.. I went to see my gastric Doctor he put me under the X-ray looked at my band and believe it or not the band was filled up tight . So he never believe it was leaking. I came back twice since then and still I have no restrictions what so ever. Today when I went to see him , he said I'm going to pull out the Fluid that is inside to see just how much is in there , when he did he pulled out about 3 cc and he said I should've had about 8 cc in there. So now we know for sure it's leaking . So now my next step is to either replaced the tub if it's leaking from there or the band itself . Or just take it out and get the sleeve. Has anyone have problems like this . Is anyone trying to consider from changing from the band to the sleeve . If so please I would like your in out on this matter.

Gosh. It is disappointing to read of all the problems with the band. I had one in Feb 2008. I have been in the green spot for most of that time. Reached my goal in six months. However over the last two years I have allowed myself to gain two thirds of what I lost. It is my fault entirely. I don't get hungry, I just eat the wrong foods. Reflux is getting worse and I am frequently chewing ant acids. I am scared of erosion or other complications in the future and am trying to decide what to do. I am wondering about getting all the Fluid removed and seeing if I can manage on my own....risky!

Or changing to bypass. I don't think I would get a sleeve because of similar reflux problem to the band.

I can manage my head hunger if I eat right and have recently lost some weight. I am interested in hearing from some of you as to what decision you have made and how it's going. Please keep posting.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
