ireallywannabthin 286 Posted January 17, 2013 All right this is my first post after lurking for months. I will be banded in February also. I'm so afraid of failing! This can not just be another diet. I truly eat my emotions. I always wonder if I am going to be mean and grouchy when I'm frustrated, because usually I just eat and move on. I really just want restriction until I can get used to my new lifestyle. Super excited but terrified. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. Good luck everyone. We are in this together. First of all, congratulations! I also got my approval call today and I am SO excited! I'm scheduled for February 6. Secondly, your feelings and concerns are normal... at least I hope so! LOL.. I feel the same way you do. I'm scared to death of failing on this diet as I have always been unsuccessful long term on other diets so how will this be any different? What I've learned from the amazing people on this board is that the band is a very personal tool. Many do well and some do not. It is very person dependent. It is there to help control your hunger and tell you when you're eating too fast or too much. When used correctly, it will save your/our lives! I've also asked if people felt that this helped prevent them from falling back into their old ways and most people said yes, which for me was very comforting. All in all, I think any and all of your emotions are completely normal and justified. People are scared of the unknown.. and something this drastic and life changing is scary! Luckily, we all have amazing support systems, including this board, which is very helpful! I wish you nothing but success on your journey and can't wait to share in your joys! 1 general_antiope reacted to this

I haven't been on here in a day or two, & was starting to get a little nervous & thinking a thousand thoughts, fears, & questions about getting banded (mainly the actual surgery). Then I hop back on here and see all of you guys & all the excitement & positivity! It's rubbed off on me! I'm so excited now, that I feel jittery! I'm happy for each one of you, & can't wait to see how everyone's journey down a new path goes. I'm sure we'll all have ups & downs, but it helps to know that there are others on here who know exactly what you're dealing with, & may even be able to give you some pointers. Oh, & I'm making a list of the Protein shakes that were mentioned, & that I haven't tried. Thanks to all who shared. 5 JillMarie, Onamissionn2013, ireallywannabthin and 2 others reacted to this
general_antiope 189 Posted January 17, 2013 I will have my surgery Feb. 5 th.....I am really excited to begin this journey! I go for my pre op lab and visit with surgeon on Monday, then start my 2 week diet on Tuesday . I am also like most of you mixed with emotions....like why do I need this? Why couldn't I do this on my own? Why did I inherit the big girl gene? Will I be successful? Believe me I have a trillion more!!!!!!! I do know that I am grateful for health insurance that covers this procedure...a wonderful husband and daughter that support me in my decision for lap band...and love this forum that is so informative . Wishing you all happiness with this amazing journey we are all about to discover this February !!!!! It's so great to have the support of your family! I know what you mean with your questions...lots of people have a relationship with food that is very, very difficult to overcome with willpower alone, and frankly I think may be impossible to permanently change. When you get the magic fill, your entire world changes. It is like nothing I've ever felt before. (and two of my friends who got banded agree) The biggest change I am looking forward to again is to NOT think about food. When i'm filled right, I actually talk more at meals, have more interest in the world, not just fantasizing about stromboli or pizza for dinner. You don't realize how big your world gets when you get smaller

WMHB (Dave) 26 Posted January 17, 2013 Approved and scheduled for the lap band on Feb. 19th. Freaking out reading all these negatives about problems with the band! Second guessing myself. Not a good thoughts! 1 susancwalker2008 reacted to this
general_antiope 189 Posted January 17, 2013 Does everyone have an in person support group they will attend? My doc is 2 hours away in NY so I don't. The local docs here are complete jerks and want nothing to do with anyone else's patients, so I'm without real life support. Will definitely be hanging around here a lot more to connect with other LB folks. That's the one thing I want to do better on this time around is the connection with other people. I was very isolated with this journey. (I got a divorce right after surgery)
bandedmarci 15 Posted January 18, 2013 Hi everyone- I don't post much- usually only read everything! But my date is 2/21. I'm nervous and so looking forward to it. Due to my insurance I had a 6 month waiting period so I've been anxiously reading these boards all that time! Good luck to everyone!
SaraJ 6 Posted January 18, 2013 Hi, i am scheduled for feb. 26. I just had my initial consult in Jan and since i am paying out of pocket, everything is going so fast. I need to do this so i guess in a way its better if i dont have too long to think about it or i might change my mind. Cant wait really, very excited and scared at the same time. Just dont like being under anesthesia, think im not going to wake up. I hope im not the only one who thinks of those things. Would like to keep in touch with all you feb bandsters! I was very isolated with this journey. (I got a divorce right after surgery) Kateeryn, I attend a local support group once a month. (I've attended twice and one of the first time was their Christmas party.) However, my family isn't close by and I don't have friends nearby. That's why I joined the forum. I want the support, and to offer support to others going through this journey. It's difficult going through something like this alone. 3 Onamissionn2013, general_antiope and kvr1977 reacted to this
Miss V 41 Posted January 18, 2013 I think support is going to be such a huge factor in this journey for all of us, some of us have great support systems, some dont....but my hope is that those people who don't use this forum and all the great people on it as there support system, checking in and being accountable to each other! February is fast on our heals and its already great to know that I am not the only one going through this huge rush of crazy emotions, and the thing that scares me most is being scared that I am going to fail! SnapIGotThis 44 Posted January 18, 2013 I am hoping to be joining you ladies with a Feb date. I had to do the 6 mo diet & just had my last mo on the 16th. Met with the surgeon today, psych evaluation, & insurance lady. The insurance lady will be submitting any day now & said it will take about 2 weeks for an approval. My biggest concern is that I had to skip a month in Sept due to my son's severe illness & hospitalization. I have all the records from that & made up the missed visit already so they do not think it will be an issue but we shall see. I have my nutritionist appt set for the 28th. I have tried the muscle milk in chocolate but not sure if it meets all the requirements yet but it was pretty good. My Dr's office carries the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury & I plan on trying that as well.
