Creekwood 702 Posted January 14, 2013 I have a platelet dysfunction disorder, basically my blood doesn't clot as well as it should. I plan on having the lap-band surgery. I will be working with my surgeon and oncologist to figure out what extra precautions that I need to take. Does anyone on here have or know someone who has a bleeding disorder who has went through the lap-band procedure? What was your/their experience like? Thanks in advance! 1 newbielapbander reacted to this
Kime-lou 648 Posted January 14, 2013 Yes, and you should be fine. Most of the of the time when you have lapband they give you a shot of blood thinner in your belly to thin the blood to prevent a clot. For you, you won't need it. I had a friend who had gastic with this disorder and did fine. As long as the doctors are aware they will be able to deal. I have the opposite disorder I clot to much so I need extra thinner. Creekwood 702 Posted January 14, 2013 Thanks for the info! It has been hard to find people with similar problems! My Dr. Assured me that there would be no problem, but it's nice to hear it from both perspectives.
