I had to email my bariatrician yesterday because of some leg swelling that ive had...during our back and forth, she asked about my Protein intake. Up til now I was told 60grams a day by my nutrtionist...but according to the doc, she says 60-80.

Turns out that, tho it doesnt happen often, not enough Protein can cause swelling in your legs. Since my last band fill, my protein has been onloy about 30, because of such small portions...so it make sense.

I would say as a starting point, try to get 60, then at your next visit with doc (or if u can call or email them) confirm with what they say.

good luck

mine told me 70+ per day

i do drink a Protein Shake every morning because it tastes good and because i like knowing..i have some Protein in me...i know that protein helps me feel full and keeps me full between meals...each dr and patient is different so its best to refer to your dr...

My dr recommends 60 grams a day but Told me not to tax my brain tracking iit and just eat 3 oz of meat, fish, Beans or other high protien food every day and I would be fine.

Of course check with yours on everything you learn outside of his rules.

I try to reach for 100 grams a day. I have a shake in the morning and at night which accounts for about 70 grams there. I do a lot of heavy lifting at the gym so I need the extra Protein.< /p>

I only eat 3 half cup meals and usually get around 60 sometimes more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
