When I started with this whole band thing I was 224lbs and the day of surgery 11/2/12 I was 211lbs and now I'm 203lbs I just need to know if I'm doing everything good or should I have been losing more

What does your doctor say?

It's a good loss.... But if you aren't satisfied with it maybe chat with the dr to see what you could be doing to help it along... Are you tracking your calories, eating the proper portions and following bandster rules? Maybe you need to up your Water intake..or lower or increase your calories......that helps some people lose more efficiently. I would schedule an appoint to share your concerns with him

I had surgery 3 days before you and I am down 38 pounds. I have seen people down less than that in that time and way more too. I work out five days a week and eat 1200 calories a day.

Be proud that you are losing and know you control how fast it is by the calories you eat and work outs you do. You van do this!!!!

also remember, the more a person weighs, usually the faster they lose in the beginning. You seem to be losing pretty well, but like floridays said.. ask the doc and see what you can do.. do you exercise? maybe you lose more inches then weight also. :)

Most doctors say a lap band patient will lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. And you are losing around 2 pounds a week. Considering you're relatively low start weight I think you're losing at a pretty quick pace. As mentioned above someone who is 300 pounds the day of surgery is going to probably lose more weight up front then someone who is 230 pounds. While I was 280 pounds the day of. surgery I had already lost 100 pounds from diet and exercise. So even though I believe I was a very very good banister I have been a slow loser

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
