The people that told you that the band was bad are banded? If they are not then they do not have the experience to advise you.

I was banded 10/5 and love it. I feel normal. I am living a healthier me and the results are remarkable.

Have any of these people actually had the surgery? Or is it all urban legend I heard it from someone's father's sister's brother? I've never regretted having surgery and I'm 2 and a half years out. For some of us this is the life line. No 1 else has to live in your body so no 1 else gets a vote!

Best of luck to you on your journey. I have learned that hearsay is just that.... Unless someone is paying my bills I may consider their opinion but ultimately I will. Make the right decision for me,

You are the only one that can make the "right" decision for you. I have been back and forth for the last year now and I feel the pros completely out weigh the cons. It will be the best decision I have made for myself I am sure of it, and I have made a lot of bad decisions on my day, lol, but this is one of the best

Good Luck

Shannon,

You do it girl! It takes a lot to go through all 6 appointments. I did as well, and know what it is like to wait for it to happen. Go with what you think is right! It's your journey girl! Go wherever it take you and hopefully it's to band-land. Cheers

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
