You may want to call your doctor and see what they say. The port is the most painful incision since it is the largest and where they are most invasive. My port started bothering me around the same time and the doctor told me it was just the swelling and me still healing. But trust your instincts and call the doctor if you are concerned.

Feel better soon.

The port area is the last to heal fully. As you move around during the day it is possible you are straining it. I agree with Dawn though, the doctor is the final word.

Thanks...:) what did the pain feel like? How long did it last? Did anything alleviate the pain?

the pain around the port hurt me the worst..it wasnt brutal, just uncomfortable...they cut you skin, sewed a plastic thing to your muscle, so yeah its gonna hurt, be sore, a pulling sensation and then tender as it heals,,,mine stopped at a month out..

if you are concerned, the other girls are right, refer to your dr always

For me, it was sore and most uncomfortable when I slept and when I sat at my desk at work. On occasion I took Aleve if it really bothered me and that helped. I remember putting a low profile pillow under the side of my stomach and slept on my side and that seemed to help too. I wouldn't overexert yourself but moving is good to keep the healing process going. I also had weeks of feeling like the tubing or something was jabbing into my ribs when I sat at my desk and would have to make sure I was sitting up very tall and sometimes held in my side. Thankfully, that passed. I was concerned it wouldn't but it did. :) Hang in there and don't hesitate to call your dr as they are there to support us through this and even the nurses can assess or assist over the phone too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
