pinkcess 12 Posted January 12, 2013 I haven't even had surgery yet, but made the switch to toddler-sized plates, bowls, forks, spoons, bites, and portions about a month ago! It wasn't hard because I have 2 small children at home so I used their stuff at first. Then went out and saw monsters inc silverware and bought 2 sets, I liked them so much. I love boo I don't feel silly at all. I think it's cool to use kid stuff.
hely88 883 Posted January 12, 2013 I use a half cup bowl and a baby spoon. It is much easier to judge the sizes for me , but its just easy and better for me to know exactly what I have. May change in the future but this is what is comfortable for me. I also take them when I go to other people's houses to eat. I don't worry about what anyone thinks. This is my time and I am going all the way! By the way i got a 16 pack of plastic baby spoons off of Amazon for like 5 dollars. I think they are called throw away spoons. Something like that. Find what works for you. Happy Journey.
Jendkopp 62 Posted January 12, 2013 My husband and i got banded 3.5 weeks ago, and we bought small forks, spoons, and plates. We really like them and think they help us take smaller bites and make the portions look less small.
Banana2363 21 Posted January 12, 2013 I do. Small plastic spork and spoon. Also use divided plate so I know my meat, veg and fat portions
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted January 12, 2013 i use a small salad plate and a small bowl when i eat (at work also) but use reg sized utensils...thought about it in the beginning about using wee ones but never did. screw what anyone thinks, do what you want if it works is how i see it
Peaceful1 110 Posted January 13, 2013 I definitely use smaller utensils...I have super tiny forks I got when I lived in Korea. The US children's utensils are designed weird to me. But the little fork has helped me SO much! 1 Destined*Lady*D reacted to this
feb27bandwoman 112 Posted January 13, 2013 I use a Corning-Corelle small divided plate and I love it! They are so cute, I bought 6 of them. I hate having my foods touch! I also started using chopsticks.... More socially acceptable when eating out. But, I got a few smaller size utensils. They are like cocktail utensils and they do not look weird. 1 Destined*Lady*D reacted to this
Destined*Lady*D 90 Posted January 13, 2013 Thank you everyone for your responses and support THank you! I am going to check out those divided plates. Someone else told me about the Binto Box's as well to help keep everything separated and portion sized out. I love the Chop Stick idea too! It helps to keep variety!
