ireallywannabthin 286 Posted January 11, 2013 Ok, so I called my instance three times before I went to my seminar and 2 out of three people said that lap band was 100% covered. Now the doctors office is staying they're not sure because of how things are worded. My insurance says it covers "surgical bypass" for obesity.. Doesn't that mean only gastric bypass? I'm losing hope.
CaGottaBand 498 Posted January 11, 2013 How frustrating that must be! Has someone from you surgeon's office called your insurance company and gotten verbal verification of what they do or do not cover? The insurance specialist at my surgeon's office called during my first appointment. 1 Maddysgram reacted to this
kazjim98 618 Posted January 11, 2013 Is there anywhere you can see it in writing? I can go online and see exactly what is covered by my insurance...it seems that would be a lot more reliable than talking to someone, seeing as 2 out of 3 people said it was covered 100%. Don't lose hope! It's still possible this will work out for you 1 Maddysgram reacted to this
ireallywannabthin 286 Posted January 11, 2013 There is nothing posted online. I do have a book from my union talking about my coverage and exclusions. That's how I found it...

What kind of insurance do you have? Is your insurance self funded by your company?
ireallywannabthin 286 Posted January 11, 2013 I have MagnaCare which is through my employer, however I am in a union. It's confusing
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted January 11, 2013 When I started my process I sent my insurance company an email and asked if they covered LBS. They sent me an email saying yes, if you meet all the attached qualifications. My Bariatric Surgeons office stayed in direct contact with my Ins Co. and guided me through everything. If I'm not mistaken, haven't they already sent you for all the pre-qualifying test, if yes and they're not sure your covered, I'd be a little pissed.j/s 1 CaGottaBand reacted to this

ireallywannabthin 286 Posted January 11, 2013 So I found out that yes LBS is covered , however the doctor visits at my surgeons office are not. Very annoying. I don't understand how it works. But I guess that's sort of good news
