Very hungry all the time!!

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill on dec 27. I now have 3cc in my band. I don't feel full at all!! I felt full on my empty band and had several issues with food getting stuck. But now that I got a fill..., I feel like there is no bottom to my stomach !! I feel no restriction and I don't like it. I'm really conscious about what eating and I'm eating what and the amount I'm suppose to but I'm waiting got that full feeling and I don't get it. Any ideas from you seasoned vets !!!??

I had the same problem! I choose to not have anything in my band! I don't know why it works for me but it does. Everyone is so different, it's hard to give anyone advise. Maybe call your doctor and see if he/she has any suggestions for you or would like to see you again. Good Luck and let me know what happens!

The head is a very powerful thing. After surgery you were swollen and feeling new things with your band, went for your first fill thinking you would totally feel it snd wham nothing... Worse you feel less than before the fill. I feel your pain.

You will be hungry for now. It will take several fills to get to the green zone. Took about 8 fills over 8 months for me and by that time I was within 10 pounds from goal. Hang in there, eat as if you have restriction. I know it's hard, but you can do it.

get another fill and you will not feel full like we use to we feel satisfied and you don't have the food in your head all the time. I have a 10cc/6.5 cc in it and have feel great one one cup 4 timed a day. I have lost 47 pound in 3 mos I just love this band and pray nothing changes. I hope the same for you talk to your doctor you should not feel hungry for at least 4 hours then you know your in the green zone.

I really believe there are "spells" of hunger. I will have a day where I want to eat everything and I never get full then after a few days a glass of Water will fill me up. Even though I am on the pill and the doctor says I should have PMS, I swear the week before my period I could eat the house down.

Maybe it's all in my head.

When I have those days I try and drink, drink, drink my crystal light Water. Eat a SF popcicle. Go for a walk or run. Play with the dog. If I am still hungry I eat, if not I move on.

You'll be in "bandster hell" until you get the fill that gives you enough restriction for the band to work it's magic. That may be 1 fill or 6. No one knows. Till then, like our esteemed forum member B-52 says, "

"Until there's restriction...It's just another diet"

Yup! Bandster He'll! I got used to fighting it in 6 weeks. Mind over matter until I get to the fill that takes me into the green zone! Don't worry many have been there and many more will come. Don't feel bad it's normal!

I feel like i'm in banster hell too. i was banded 11/27 and i am stuck at 23 lbs lost. i just ate a 6 inch wheat sub for lunch and i was only going to eat half but i ate the whole 6 inches. i am a little depressed now. i do count my calories/protein for the day and try to stay under 900 calories a day. i think not exercising that much is affecting my slow weight loss. i need to motivate myself to exercise. i feel like i'm more hungry then just eating a 1/2 cup of food every 4 hrs. I saw doc 1/3 and he said wait till Feb to get my first fill. So he basically wants me to try harder on my own, which i understand and thats why i come to this board for support and advice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
