LapbandLo 294 Posted January 10, 2013 1. Seminar - DONE 2. Referral from my doctor - DONE 3. Consultation - January 31st 4. Just informed that my insurance requires 6 months of weight check ups recorded with my primary doctor. I WANT TO CRY. I've done this my whole life. I can lose the weight. I know how to diet and eat healthy but I'm still missing the tool that helps with the rest! I'm going to do it and I have my head in the right positive place but I just hope I don't get discouraged. lindabug 69 Posted January 10, 2013 Hang in there, it is a long process but it will go by quickly. Most insurance companies do this, mine did.

CaGottaBand 498 Posted January 10, 2013 Don't get discouraged. I'm half way through my 6 months, it goes really quickly! And I'm finding that this six months is proving to be helpful. It's giving me time to prepar myself for the changes ahead. It promise it will go much quicker than you think. 1 lindabug reacted to this
lindabug 69 Posted January 10, 2013 It really does give you some time to prepare and to research. It's a total life change and like having a child you have to prepare your mind, body and everyone that is involved in your life. I really needed it more than I thought I would. BandedCandace 105 Posted January 10, 2013 Keep your head up! i had everything done in March or so I thought and then the insurance changed their mind on my weight watchers being acceptable and made me do 6 month dr supervised diet. To say i was pissed and my heart was broken is an understatement. i literally gave up..Decided to not let them beat me and did my 6 months..finished Nov. 29th and my surgery was approved 12/12/12. I go see my surgeon 1/16 and hope to set a date then..long story short..it flies by!..Jumping through the hurdles make the end result that much sweeter 2 LapbandLo and CaGottaBand reacted to this
Kathy Pitcher 102 Posted January 11, 2013 Who is your ins co? *if you don't mind my asking... I have UHC and they use Bariatric Resources Solutions. BRS assigned me an RN that takes me through the entire process. She told me that it has to be six consecutive months of SOME doctor- not necessarily the the same doctor- counselling me on my weight, and exercise. So I was able to use my GP, OB, even the first consult with my surgeon will count b/c he's going to be addressing my weight. When I see they psychiatrist I'll be able to get her to sign my little work sheet as well, so I'm not doing fifty appts in one month!! I've tried to space them out some, and when i did miss an appointment b/c of circumstances out of my control, I was able to use my sleep apnea consultation simply because she advised me that losing weight would help me with the sleep apnea, and encouraged me to walk walk walk!! I hope this will help you!
