I was banded on 10/10/12 and have not vomited since before then. I have had a few 'stuck' episodes but never actually vomited.

Erosion is a compliation that can occur, but is rare...

I started at 280 lbs and my goal is 150lbs ...while I don't have children, I do have a husband that eats like a child. We have made changes in the way we eat and once you get in the routine it is easy.

Since being banded I have lost over 50 lbs...you can do it!

I think nerves are normal. Of course there are going to be people who have had bad experiences, but so many people have been SO successful. I think the key is to go in knowing that you have to work at it and to be ready for the challenges that lay ahead.

Hope you feel better soon.

Like you I was scheduled last week of Nov, and I got a horrible cough/cold so we post poned. I was so POSITIVIE on having it and then the week that followed I was like should I or not? I too read stories and blogs and had people tell me the negative sides of the surgery. However I have a neice who did it last year. She went from 240 and is down to 118. Dont think its a 'majic pill' or ' majic make over'. YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH IT TOO. Having a small pouch does not mean you can eat donuts and potatoe chips and all this junk food and think weight is gonna drop off. You will have to eat healthy and the lap band helps you to lose weight because you arent eating as much to make you feel full. Im no expert as its only been just over a month since mine so I'm still learning to eat. I dont have a problem eating healthy... So far my problem is eating SLOW and chewing my food 20 times before swalling. If you practice that I promise you wont throw up. And the throwing up is not that awful...you only throw up a little , its usually the last bite you took. Also if you feel like something is going to come back up...dont think drinking Water will push it down..it wont. If you dont chew it well, it gets stuck...the rest of the food cant go anywhere and you may start to hiccup as I do and I know then STOP eating wait for it to go down... or come back up. Again, chew chew chew small bites and you wont throw up. I have lost 19 pounds my first month! GOOD LUCK!

find some posts on here from successful people (yes bad things happen for whatever reasons) but the majority of the not working is because the banded rules were not followed.

search for floridays, or ajtexas or grammy and countless others who have had this surgery and it works..that being said, it works if you help it.

you wont have the surgery and wake up 50 pounds thinner overnight. you def have to change your eating, your exercising (or begin like i had to) and just do it. if you want it, then do it and do let anyone or anything stop you..it is all about want power. want it bad enough to do something about it.

I Vomit from time to time, but believe me when I say you are WAY better off dropping that weight to be there for Your Children.

I was banded 8/13/12 and have never vomitted or even had the urge to. I have had a few moments with bread where I have the "stuck" feeling but I wait and it passes. You just need to chew well.

You are absolutely correct. This will alter your life tremendously (and your kids lives). You have to change your eating lifestyle. The band is just a tool to help you in that journey. Now, cared for correctly it is a wonderful tool.

I don't vomit, I eat healthy fresh foods daily, I eat band portions, slowly.

I think it's great that you read those stories, they are real and yes it can happen. Sometimes at no fault of the patient but often because the patient didn't follow doctors orders.

Getting my band was the best decision I have made for myself. Good luck to you.

If you have any other questions ask away. We love answering!

I agree with AJ and CarolinaGirl. You can find good and bad stories here. Most of the band failures that I have seen since I joined the forum have be patient compliance issues. People who believe that the band is some magic device that does it all for you. The band is a tool and you have to work with it and follow the recommended eating rules. I believe the band will affect your children positively because as you learn to eat better, you will be helping them to learn to make better choices too. I have never regretted by decision. Yes... I have been stuck, but I have not actually vomited since getting the band, even with a bad stomach bug. Best wishes whatever you decide, but I would vote to go for it!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
