After holidays and getting back on track... suggestions welcome

Recommended Posts

Hi all... I was banded in October but have not yet had a fill. I gained 3 pounds over the holidays and find that I am constantly hungry. I see surgeon at the end of the month. But in the meantime would love some opinions on getting back on track! Thanks in advance.

Small meals, 3-4 ozs Protein, 1/2 cup veggies, 1/4 cup starch. small bits, chew chew chew, wait 1 minute between bits and stop after 20 minutes. Follow the band rules. Drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day. Not sure what you mean by get back on track, 3 pound gain could just be water weight and will come right off.

Now, if you still have tempting foods in your house I would suggest getting them out. If it isn't there you can't eat it. Plus start moving. There is a thread in the fitness forum of a January challenge of walking/running 100 miles in the month of January, join us on it.

Here is the thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/162529-100-miles-in-january-2013-challenge/

Good luck.

Protein Shakes at Breakfast and lunch. Then a snack of nonfat greek yogurt for 5 days. A simple small dinner. You will get back on track and drop 4 pounds. If you exercise ssome, maybe 5 pounds in a week.

i havent had a fill yet either but i do eat as if i do..

i def suggest eating if you are hungry. eating good healthy, Protein filled foods and veggies and fruit (while drinking alot) will help with this hunger feeling...if you are truly hungry, then eat.......but if its just head hunger, try drinking to see if that helps at all...but what ever you do, just do it...dont wait on the fill to help you start losing weight...that is a helper.....you just start today by wanting this and then doing it..best of luck to you.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
