I just finished all of my doctor appointments and am merit with my surgeon today and hoping I can schedule my surgery date. They wanted me to lose 5% of my weight which I am struggling with. So you think that could affect my surgery date?

How much time do they give you to lose the 5%? How many lbs is it?

My doctor wanted me to lose 10% body weight before scheduling surgery. Took me about 2.5 months to loose 30 pounds.

I think you will find that different Dr.s want different things, I lost 10 pounds pre-op from 296 to 286. In our pre-op meeting my wife asked if he would still have done the surgery if I hadn't lost any weight and the answer was yes. The pre-op diet from his view point was to shrink the liver to make the operation easier. You may have different circumstances though.

BTW, his nurse said the pre-op diet was to make you more thank for the band ;-)

It's about 15lbs and they said before surgery they'd like me to lose weight only to shrink my lover. I guess worse comes to worse its hat another push to really out my best foot forward and get my booty in gear for all of the changes ill be making.

So nothing was said about my 2.2 pound weight gain. I should set my date up tomorrow for surgery but it also depends on my insurance/union.

It's weird how every doctor is different. My doc said the pre-op diet just makes people miserable and more irritable come surgery day. She said every little bit helps but most of all to stay positive before surgery and remember, its a tool afterwards.

Best of Luck ...Cheers
