When was your first stall?

Recommended Posts

So I'm six months out and have been the same weight for a month.....thank god I hit onderland before I stalled but I'm wondering if this is a trend around 6 months or just when my stall is starting.......any tricks to get through a stall? Thinking about doing a weekend detox just to clean everything out and maybe get a kick start to these last 55 lbs.

I am always stalling. Sometimes for a week, sometimes for longer

It sucks!!!

But I just keep thinking about how far i've come, and that gives me encouragement to keep moving forward despite the plateau's

The detox is a good idea and maybe mix up your calorie intake. Try increasing your caloric intake to make your body increase it's metabolism. Not enough to gain weight of course, but maybe 200-400 for a few days?

I stalled at 7 months but it's mostly my own fault. I'm hitting it hard starting today.

I'm actually glad you said this I was thinking of doing the opposite and decreasing from 1000/1200 to 750/800...you made a light bulb go off though so thank you!

Ironically I've stalled as well at 6 months as well. I've focused on maintaining portion size and upping the exercise. I gave myself two weeks off 'dieting' and watching every calorie over the holidays. Fortunately no weight gain.

Hoping after treating my body to some treats, I'm back to work, in routine, tracking calories and looking at changing my exercise routine to something more intense to jump start the weight loss again.

I too am currently stalled. I've been the same weight for about 8 weeks now. I will admit that I have neglected going to the gym....but today I head back to get back to basics. I have an appointment for a small fill on Jan 30th so hopefully that will help too.

BTW, I just celebrated by 6 month bandaversary Dec 19th...so, I'm at the same place as most of you.

We can do this!

Dee has a point. So many of us try to drive down those calories per day to the point our bodies slow down our metabolism. It's called starvation mode. It may be OK for a few days but I wouldn't recommend it for more than a week. I've found that running my caloric intake up to 1600 calories a day over a weekend has had some benefits to losing weight and breaking up a plateau.

There are some bandsters who do make this their routine and have found success with 600 calories per day. But, it's no way to live imo. Eating healthy foods can fill you up and satisfy you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
