Have you noticed...?

Recommended Posts

Okay, I've lost 30 lbs so far. I asked my hubs, is it noticeable that I've lost, and he replies, yes. So why is it when I see someone, they don't say a word. Like, you look good, anything. But nothing?

Its a downer. :|

Well, I guess I should be happy I know. I feel better, and more energetic. O.o

That is so frustrating, isn't it. But I've found that people can be hesitant to comment on your weight loss because they feel as if they are saying you looked really bad before!

Plus, if you are wearing the same clothes, it might not be as noticeable to them as you think.

Hang in there, they will notice and start commenting very soon!

PS Congratulations, You are doing great.

Congrats you are doing great. It took 50 pounds for me until people said anything and it does feel good when people notice :)

People barely comment on my weight loss, even now!

But it took losing 40 about 40 lbs to get any comments outside my family.

Also, wearing big clothing disguises out weight loss, so that may be an issue too

Congrats on losing 30 lbs!

Since I had 227 to lose.. It wasn't until about the first 50/75 did some people start noticing.... Then it was. Did you cut your hair? Then after I lost about 150 I got more compliments... But it wasnt until I dropped the last seventy that people couldnt seem to talk about anything else. So be patient.... Those compliments are right around the corner.

Some people said nothing to me and then cornered my husband to ask if I was sick! He spent a lot of time reassuring others. Your day will come.

I am my worst critic...some ppl will notice others won't. A turning point was around 30 ish pounds someone had told me they didn't know I was pregnant the last time they saw me...ummmmm awkward!!!!!

I think I was down about 50-60 pounds before people commented. I think part of it people are afraid to say anything at first in case they're wrong. I mean, it's like the old cliche "Did you lose weight?"...."no! are you calling me fat?"....*sounds of crashing and burning*. People are afraid of this happening so they usually don't say anything until the loss is undeniably noticeable.

Plus, as others have stated, big clothes definitely mask it. Just recently I had a big sweater on over my clothes (I was cold!) and when I took it off, my cousin said the difference was huge without the sweater.

It will come, just be patient. I'm down 175 pounds and now the difference is so drastic people don't recognize me (literally!).

This was always one of my problems with dieting. As soon as people noticed and commented about my weight loss, I would feel shamed and gain it all back and then some. Now that I am banded, I will not have the ability to gain the weight back as I did before. I got my band the day after Christmas and am down about 14 pounds from my high. I was borderline to get the surgery so I deliberately fattened myself up before my initial consultation to improve my chances. So far, nobody has noticed or commented. The only people who I had the band done are my husband and daughter, my boss and two heavy set girlfriends, neither of whom I have seen since the surgery.

I plan to tell people that I have gone back to Weight Watchers if they are rude enough to ask because it's really none of anyone's business.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I think one person, has said something. I just got into a size smaller, and wearing it. I had saved my jeans.

I guess I wanted people to notice. I'm gonna try to hang in there. I still have a long way to ho.

Sick was the 1st comment most people sad to me! It was choir members(I am a choir member). We had just lost a woman to the big "C". so, they were concerned. It does take about 40 lbs for people to really notice. When you have to change to a smaller size, I think, then people will. Once you come out of winter clothes people will see a difference, so by Spring! It is disappointing, but you and your hubby know! Congratulations on your 30!!!

you know i think maybe they dont know what to say?? i am and was very insecure and the friends/family that knew me knew how i was and by saying (anything about weight/dieting etc)

would upset me so they didnt. not everyone knows of my surgery so some dont say anything and i am cool with that. ..i think that eventually people will acknowledge your great loss...but up until they do, you keep on working it. because as long as YOU know, that is what matters in the long run isnt it?? YOU

OMGoodness FFP...that so use to be me ..Id be so good till the compliments started then Id feel ashamed...

This time around I relish all the compliments...

The other moms from my sonds ball teams really noticed first....

from one season to mom sitting in the ar watching the games

first reason so I wouldnt be seen....2nd because It was to hot out in the sun....

to this past ball season to walking around the fiels during every practice...

yet I have one adult son who is over weight and has yet to tell me how good I look....unless I say hey how do i look....which I have stopped doing...

Enjoy all the compliments !!!

It may be because they are seeing you every day. I just saw a good friend of mine this past weekend, who I had not seen in about six months. He was quick to say oh my gosh you look amazing, because he had not seen me in so long. When people see you every day its not that they don't notice but the change is not as drastic as when someone has not seen you in a while. It can also depend on where the weight is coming off at. For me the first thirty pounds came off of all the places I cared the least about. The last twenty have made a major difference in how I look. So keep striving, people will notice! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
