Anyone have any good menu ideas for a vegetarian with lap band? I have no problem eating my green. Just struggling with the "lean" Thanks!

A lot of people like to eat Beans. I would eat them if they didn't give me such awful gas. My favorite high Protein option is Quinoa. You can use it in place of rice, and cous cous; and I have found that it doesn't stick as easily as rice does.

Look up black bean casserole line I have the recipe if I can find it but I know there are lots of vegan recipes out there plus morning star makes great vegan meats, I also eat tofu, cottage cheese, yogurt and there are other things packed with Protein but this is a warning: I became severely b-12 deficient from not eating meat and have to take shots every week. We need animal Proteins for b-12 and when you decide to become vegan you run that risk. Get your levels checked.

I also struggle with the "lean". I was banded 6/14/12 and have only lost 25lbs and that was in the first month and a half, I have not lost anything since. I have had multiple fills and believe I am up to 5.5cc in a 10cc band. I eat less than half of what I used to be able to. I think it's because I eat mostly carbs that I am not losing??? I have been vegetarian for years but ate mostly carbs and was very bad at getting any Protein in, I went vegan the first of the year, I had only not given up cheese and ate way to much of it so decided it was time (it's a stuggle tho as I miss my cheese!) I started back on Protein Shakes but they do not fill me up at all. So I struggle as I did pre- band but I'm not giving up, I will figure this out :)

I use Protein Shakes for Breakfast and a Morningstar hot dog with black Beans for lunch. A 0% fat greek yogurt like chobani apple cinnamon for snack. I still eat eggs so those and some beans for dinner. Tofu is great. Boca has a nice low cal high Protein Tomato basil veggie burger.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
