I need a new dr!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm really not happy with the dr that did my surgery. I think his office staff is sub-par, and he's not really willing to listen. I'm down 20lbs and I'm 11 post op, all this weight since surgery. I asked if I wanted to try to lose with no fills how would that work, he totally disregarded me, and responded by saying I would be getting fills, and that he was the captain. Wtf??!!

Typical arrogant surgeon, but why do you want no fills?

Just to see how far I can get without them. I feel like let's wait til I stop losing or slow down, then lets start filling.

to early for a fill if you are only 11 days post op. good luck on everything I would have failed already if I hadn't had the fills or been able to do it years ago.

It's your body and your band, you need to lose the weight however you're most comfortable doing it. If that's waiting on fills, then your surgeon should respect your decision and support you. If he can't or won't do that, find one that will.

Btw- he's not the captain. He's the employee. You are the employer paying him to do a job. If you don't like the work he's doing for you? Fire him and hire a new one.

Best wishes to you.

I agree with your comment about his staff. They always seemed surprised when I show up for an appointment and then I see 4-5 people that arrive after me go in before. Also, he said I would come in every month for a fill until I reached where I needed to be. Figured I would just discuss needing the fill, not like he would force a needle into me, but now you've made my concerns more valid.

I went into this with "no fills" to be had until I stop losing weight. I went right through from start to finish with no fills. Not everybody needs fills. I am starting my 5th year being banded and still have no fills. If I wanted to be filled where I could not eat, I would have opted for having my mouth wired shut instead. At least with that option you would not get stuck or throw up continuously. I have been very happy with my decision since this is my body and my decision to make. You definitely need a new doctor if he is so insistent on fills before you need them. My doctor gave me the option and choice of what I wanted to do with the band and this has been a success for me. You need to decide what is best for your body. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
