Ok I was supposed to have my first fill today and i have to say it was a horrible experience. I was banded dec 12 and have lost 23 lbs so far. My surgeon attempted my first fill today and after 40 minutes of being jabbed with a needle he asked me to come back next Monday. He could find the port but just couldn't get into the right spot. He said I may still have some swelling which is why it was so difficult but it was uncomfortable and now I'm bruised and sore.

Did anyone else have trouble with their first fill? This is the first time I've left the dr office crying. I was so disappointed!

I couldn't have taken 40 mins u are stronger then I. The nurse did my first one 3 times and I told she was done so she got the doctor and I told him he had one shot..he got it the next 2 were a breeze so the swelling things sounds right to me.

Does your doc not use lidocaine first? Mine numb the area and I don't fill a thing. He could try 100 times and if be ok? They Also make a numbing cream (emala).

Ready to change my life!

He does use a local anesthetic but when he was poking around with the needle I felt very uncomfortable. It was also painful when a muscle was hit since the lidocaine doesn't get that deep but the needle did. It wasn't unbearable pain just pressure and now I'm sore and bruised. Also just really disappointed. He thinks it should go much more smoothly next week but now I'm

Just on edge about it.

My first fill is suppose to be tomorrow. I am so nervous I know the dr is going to numb the area first but I am still scared. I pray like Banjo for a dr with a good aim!!!

I got my fill today...it was not as bad and I had thought it would be. Back on liquids for 1 1/2 days...then gradually start adding foods back in...I am glad it is over with. I will be able to sleep tonight..:)

My first fill is the 16th. I didn't get any instructions. Are you suppose to be on Clear Liquids for a day ? NPO after midnight?

I had my first fill today and I was banded on 11/28. The entire process took less than 5 seconds. He made me lay back with my hands behind my head and asked me to do a slight sit up so he could feel the port. Then he injected the port with 3 cc's of Fluid. I did the drink test and was on my way. Fluids are required for 24 hours, then one day of soft foods. If tolerable, move to solids.

I had mine yesterday too. It was not a pleasant experience I must say i was too nervous he did it like 3 times he couldn't hit the spot. Ingot 2.5cc in liquids now just had shake this morning and some Water starting to feel hungry again. Why can't it be like after surgery 2oz of Water and I am good. Now I feel rumbling and growling.

I don't regret any decision in my life because at the end I will make it work

It was probably so uncomfortable due to you still healing. I had to get air taken out of my band 4 days post op and it was miserable! I screamed it hurt so bad, but regular fills won't be as bad! Your body takes time to heal :)

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
